Daniel Briner Obituary

Daniel L. Briner, age 83 of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at his residence in Celina. He was born on June 20, 1937, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Luella ( Sunderhaus) Briner. On November, 14, 1986, he married Mary Ann Segraves who survives residing in Celina. Dan is also survived by his daughters and son-in-law: Deborah Briner Homan of Columbus, Nancy Briner of Sidney, Teresa (Steve) Schuholz of Cincinnati, his son and daughter-in-law Jeff (Sandy) Briner of Maumee and his stepdaughter Cherie (Jack) Placie of Indianapolis, IN. He has three siblings surviving, his brothers and sisters-in-law Jack (Jan) Briner of Maumee, Bob (Lila) Briner of West Carrollton and his sister Susan (Dave) Knapke of Sidney. Dan had six grandchildren he loved dearly: Alex Homan, Will Homan, Ross Homan, Phillip Schuholz, Lindsay Briner and Mitchell Briner.
Dan graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1955. He played Minor League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers from 1956 through the 1961 season. He was a co-owner of Briner's Restaurant in Coldwater and retired as a financial adviser for Lincoln Financial.
Dan was a gifted athlete (a proud lefty) who passed on his love of the Tigers and baseball to his kids and grandkids. He was a natural when he started playing golf, and he enjoyed playing with his friends. Dan formed countless and lasting friendships with old teammates, fellow golfers and the many regular customers who frequented Briner's Restaurant. Dan knew how to have a good time.
Maintaining his yard was his favorite pastime. He loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren.
Dan's wishes were to be cremated. His family will have a private celebration of life at a later date. His funeral services are in the care of the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter Neurological Center, 78 W.
