Obituary

Marcus James Petit, age 19, of Celina, OH, passed away unexpectedly on August 20th, 2026, at his home.

He was born on August 29, 2006, to Michael Petit and Nicole Niemeyer, both of Celina, OH.

As well as his parents, Marcus is survived by his siblings and in-laws Katherine (Jordan) Reinhart, along with their children Jaxson, Brinley, and Theo of Coldwater, OH; Miranda (Kelsey) Winters of St. Henry, OH; Lukas Petit of Cincinnati, OH; and Jonathan Petit of Celina, OH. Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Randy Petit and Betty Lawrence; maternal grandparents, Mark and Lorna (Wale) Niemeyer, all of Celina, OH; paternal uncle Mitchel (Brandy) Petit of Ft Recovery, OH; maternal uncle Jason Niemeyer of Celina, OH, and numerous cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Katheryn (Kay) Imel Petit; paternal great- grandparents, William and Bessie (Davis) Petit and Leroy and Pauline (Young) Imel, along with maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Betty (Marbaugh) Wales and Reuben and Marjean (Koch) Niemeyer.

Marcus graduated from Parkway High School on May 18th, 2025. After graduating, he joined the workforce until he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in November 2025. Marcus graduated from Basic Training on March 12th, 2026, followed by AIT, where he graduated on May 1st, 2026. After graduating, Marcus returned home and began working at CAPT.

Marcus enjoyed making everyone laugh and smile. He had a huge heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone. He was an old soul who loved antiquing and garage sales. If there was a sale, he was there. He loved to collect old fans, radios, and military memorabilia. He was an avid collector of anything Xbox, especially 360 games and consoles, where HALO and Fallout were some of his favorites. Marcus was an avid tinkerer, often working on the antiques he would find and restoring them to their original glory.

Marcus was a simple man. We ask that those in attendance dress casually, as this is what Marcus would have wanted.

A Visitation to celebrate Marcus' life will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors provided by the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Celina V. F. W. Post #5713. Memorial contributions may be made to Assure, Area Suicide Support Resources P.O. Box 132 Coldwater, Ohio 45828.
